solidThinking Partners with Boundary Systems to Support Rapidly Growing solidThinking Inspire User Community

TROY, Mich. – July 16, 2013 – solidThinking, Inc. announced today that it has added Boundary Systems, Ltd. to its global network of channel partners. Boundary Systems will provide solidThinking Inspire software and support to customers in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia and Ontario.

“The expansion of solidThinking Inspire usage this year has been phenomenal,” said Jim Hassberger, President of solidThinking. “We have trained almost a thousand new users in the last six months. Adding new partners to continue this growth and provide customers with high quality support is essential. Boundary Systems has a very strong reputation for technical expertise and customer service.”

Inspire allows design engineers, product designers and architects to create and investigate structurally efficient concepts quickly and easily. The software is easy to learn and works with existing CAD tools to help design structural parts right the first time, reducing costs, development time, material consumption and product weight.

Ian Kimbrell, President of Boundary Systems said, “solidThinking Inspire is an exciting new technology that generates material layouts within a package space using the loads as an input. We look forward to introducing Inspire to new and existing customers alike.”

Located in Cleveland, Ohio, Boundary Systems is a leading solutions provider for companies that design and manufacture products. Not only does Boundary Systems provide software applications, but they also sell and support 3D printers. This brings an additional synergy; the underlying algorithms in Inspire can propose designs ideally suited to the freedom inherent in additive manufacturing processes.

solidThinking recently announced the release of solidThinking Inspire® 9.5 which added new capabilities including:

  • Minimizing Mass – When running an optimization, users can now choose to either maximize stiffness or minimize mass.
  • Stress Constraint – A global stress constraint can be applied to limit the maximum stress in the model during optimization.
  • Displacement Constraints – Displacement constraints can be applied to a model to limit deflections in desired locations and directions.
  • Extrude Draw Direction – The new extrusion shape control generates constant cross-section topologies in a specified direction.
  • Localized Language Support - Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish are now supported.
